The Rock Favorite Finisher Revealed
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has revealed his favorite WWE finishing move besides his own, giving high praise to Seth Rollins' famous Stomp during a recent interview. Johnson shared his choice while speaking with Kylie Mar in an interview. He was asked which wrestling move his animated character Maui would use if he faced Te Kā in the Disney film Moana. Without hesitation, Johnson selected Rollins' Stomp as his answer. The Hollywood star and former WWE champion explained that he knows the move well because he experienced it firsthand during WrestleMania XL in 2024. At the event, Johnson teamed with Roman Reigns in a high-profile tag team match against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. During the contest, Rollins delivered the Stomp to Johnson, creating one of the memorable moments of the match. Johnson said he enjoyed taking the move despite its impact. He joked that he is a "glutton for punishment" and explained that there are several finishing moves he has always liked receiving in the ring. He added that Rollins' Stomp stands out because it has become one of the most recognizable finishing moves in modern professional wrestling. According to Johnson, the move is simple, effective, and instantly recognizable to wrestling fans around the world. He described the experience of taking the Stomp as a cool moment during his return to WWE competition. Rollins has previously explained how the finishing move became part of his wrestling style. During an earlier interview, he openly admitted that he borrowed the move from fellow wrestler Alex Shelley. Rollins said Shelley had adopted the move from Japanese wrestling legend Naomichi Marufuji, who is widely respected for creating innovative wrestling techniques. Rollins explained that while both wrestlers performed the move, neither used it as their main finishing move. He believes he was the first wrestler to turn the Stomp into a match-ending signature move. Rollins also recalled that he continued using another finisher until a WWE producer suggested making the Stomp his primary finishing move. That decision helped make it one of the company's best-known attacks. Today, the Stomp is closely linked with Rollins and is considered one of the most popular finishing moves in WWE. Fans often recognize the move immediately, and it has played a major role in many of Rollins' championship victories. Johnson's comments show the respect he has for today's generation of WWE performers. Although he remains famous for finishing moves such as the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow, he continues to appreciate the creativity and athletic ability of current stars. During the same interview, Johnson also spoke about topics outside wrestling. He discussed working with longtime friend Kevin Hart and revealed that the two comedians agreed not to tell each other their planned jokes before the Roast of Kevin Hart. The only joke they discussed in advance involved Johnson asking Hart to sit on his lap during the show. Johnson also shared his personal list of favorite Disney princesses when asked to create his own Mount Rushmore of Disney characters. The light-hearted questions added a fun ending to an interview that covered both wrestling and entertainment. Johnson remains one of the biggest names to come from WWE. His successful career has included multiple world championships before he became one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors. Even with his success in films, he continues to make occasional appearances in WWE and remains closely connected to the wrestling industry. His praise for Rollins' Stomp highlights the lasting impact of one of WWE's most famous finishing moves and shows the admiration shared between wrestling stars from different generations.
