Trump Warns More US Deaths in Iran Conflict
President Donald Trump warned Sunday that more US troop deaths could occur as tensions rise following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran. The president recorded a six-minute video address stressing the need to avenge the deaths of three American service members and protect national security. Trump called the slain troops “true American patriots” and expressed grief over their loss. He also asked the public to pray for the full recovery of five others seriously wounded during the operation. “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends,” Trump said. “That’s the way it is likely to be. But we’ll do everything possible where that won’t be the case.” The US Central Command (Centcom) reported three US service members killed and five seriously injured in what the Pentagon is calling Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are expected to return to duty. Centcom said major combat operations are ongoing, and further details will remain private until next of kin are notified. Trump, speaking from his Truth Social platform, framed the strikes as a long-term campaign. He told reporters the conflict could last “four weeks or so” and warned that Iran armed with long-range missiles and nuclear capabilities would pose a severe threat to Americans worldwide. “We cannot allow a nation that raises terrorist armies to possess such weapons to extort the world to their evil will,” Trump said. He added that Iran’s military command has been largely neutralized and that many Iranian officers are reportedly seeking immunity. However, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has promised its “most intense offensive operation” in history, targeting American and Israeli military facilities. Counterattacks have reportedly struck US bases in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. European allies are also taking action. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced permission for the US to use two British military bases to strike Iranian missile sites, citing escalating threats to British civilians from Iranian retaliation in the region. Trump described the joint US-Israeli operation as “one of the largest, most complex, most overwhelming military offensives the world has ever seen.” According to him, hundreds of targets, including Revolutionary Guard facilities and Iranian air defenses, were hit, and nine ships along with a naval building were destroyed in minutes. The president issued a stark warning to Iran’s military leadership. He urged them to surrender and accept immunity or face “certain death,” stressing America’s unmatched military strength. Trump also called on Iranians seeking freedom to seize the moment and challenge their government. “Be brave, be bold, be heroic, and take back your country. America is with you,” he said. The escalating conflict underscores rising tensions in the Middle East, highlighting the risks to US troops and the broader geopolitical implications for regional stability.
